Dom Pusey
London Based saxophonist
Bio
Dom Pusey
Dom Pusey grew up in Hertfordshire (UK). Surrounded by music from the beginning, he was introduced to the saxophone at the age of 8, igniting his lifelong passion for music. He started performing professionally on sax and guitar from age 15. Although his main instrument is tenor saxophone, he has a breadth of experience across all saxophones, clarinet and bass clarinet.
After studying at the University of North Texas and graduating from the University of Leeds, Dom moved to London in 2016 and has collaborated with many artists such as producer Wilma Archer, singer Celeste and even performed with legendary soul band The O’Jays. He is a quarter of the band Stratos, playing weekly in Hackney and featuring rising stars Mike de Souza, Rio Kai and Zoe Pascal.
Dom is also experienced in studio and session work, having recorded for radio and TV. He is available to record from his home studio.
2024 has seen the release of Dom’s original compositions featuring his working trio with Chris Bland (keys) and Filippo Galli (drums). The music unapologetically harks back to the classic organ trio sound and is influenced by soul, rock and the Black American Music tradition.

Teaching
Dom has ten years of experience teaching saxophone, guiding people from beginner level through to grade 8 and beyond. He has worked for local music services, primary and secondary schools, as well as privately from home in SE London. Dom has taught pupils from the ages of 8 to 80 (it’s never too late to learn!).
Piano was Dom’s first instrument and he still enjoys sharing his passion for the instrument with pupils as young as 6 years old. Dom teaches piano on his beautiful Steinway upright from home in SE London. Parents are invited to stay for the duration of the lesson.
Dom encourages his pupils to learn music theory, a key part of musical training, as part of their instrumental lessons. He also offers standalone theory lessons. An understanding of music theory can increase the speed of learning new pieces and add expressivity to your playing.
“Dom has been a wonderful teacher… He has a very positive attitude and the ability to transmit knowledge in a very natural way. He is very passionate about the saxophone and music in general. He makes lessons very enjoyable.” – Oscar, adult saxophone pupil
“My 14 year-old daughter loved the short time she spent developing her musical skills with Dom [before earning a scholarship to a Saturday music school]. He encouraged her to explore new approaches to her instrument and expanded her musical knowledge. We wish she could have spent longer working with Dom as we’re sure she would have become a fine saxophonist with his help. Thank you!” – Lucy, parent of pupil
