Alongside all my performing commitments, I’m a passionate educator. I use my years of experience playing to influence my teaching, and teach everyone from the absolute beginner, to advanced. No matter what your reasons for playing, I can help you! You are never too old to start.
Unfortunately, for many people, learning an instrument is not a positive experience. You may have had an uninspiring series of lessons provided at school, by an unenthusiastic music teacher who has failed to show you the joy in music; probably due to a rigid teaching methodology. I know the frustration that this can bring!
Therefore, my approach is altogether more flexible, tailored to the individual student. Whether you are working towards a graded exam or just playing for fun, I focus on bringing the joy out of music. We will talk about the music you enjoy, and work towards learning your favourite pieces.
Here are somethings we could cover in our lessons:
– Reading music (sight reading and singing)
– Tone development (making your sound the most beautiful it can be)
– Improvisation (in jazz, pop, and other styles)
– Music Theory
– Reading chord changes
– Advanced techniques
– Efficiency of movement
I am equally comfortable on soprano, alto and tenor saxophones and clarinet. I can also teach classical piano to an advanced level.
Lessons will take place in my music room in Walthamstow or at your house within reason. I hold an enhanced DBS certificate.
We can also arrange lessons over Skype if that would be more convenient.
Please to not hesitate to contact me if you would like to know more or have any queries. I look forward to hearing from you!
